Model Number: RF386PXEQ Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
I ran the self clean function a week ago. At the end of the self clean, the oven did not shut itself off like it should. I pushed the off button and the broiler element would still not shut off. I shut off the breaker and waited for the oven to cool down. Door unlocked when it was cool enough. Went to use the broiler a couple of days later and it will not heat up. Replaced broiler coil thinking it was bad. New coil does not work either. The thermal fuse seems to be fine. I get 0 ohms when I check it. I get 120vac when I check each of the leads on the broiler to ground, but when I check the two leads together I don't read any voltage. What else can I check or what else could be broken that I would need to replace? I also do not have any error codes on the display.

Here are your parts
Parts for RF386PXEQ - AppliancePartsPros.com Your model number seems to be missing the last digit so you will have to choose the correct unit using Matching Model Numbers (left hand side) See the attachment for the wiring diagram. EQ0 and EQ1 are the same. Sounds like the control board is shot. I am assuming you see 120 at the element even when the oven is off. This tell you that the wiring from L2 through the fuse to the element is OK. I would check the wiring from P2-1 on the control board to the element is OK. If it is then the control board is shot re: the broil relay is not closing.
