I have a GE P7 electric wall oven. To start the self clean cycle I have to push a button and slide a lever to lock the door. It is impossible to slide the lever to the locked position.

Hi, David.

When you push the button do you hear the 'click"?
If you do - check the latch handle, it may be bent out of shape.
If there is no clicking sound you need to check if the latch solenoid is getting 120VAC when the button is pushed.
Replace the solenoid if it's burnt Part number: WB24X5097
Part number: WB24X5097

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for GE JRP03G0J3 - AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

I jiggled the wires around and now I hear the click of the solenoid when I push the button and am able to close and open the locking latch. So now I know to check the solenoid next time this problem happens. I also know that it's getting 110 volts so I need to be careful working around the parts.
Thanks for the quick response!
