Oven Repair (including Ranges and Cooktops)

Dear Experts,

After we're done cooking in the oven, we turn the oven knob to off. Then we come back to the oven later in the day/night and notice that the oven is still on, but at a very low temperature.

I've also noticed the orange glow of the ignitor, again while the oven is set to off, so I wiggle the oven control knob and I can then get it to turn off.

Chatting with your sales agent, she recommended replacing the Range Oven Igniter, Part # AP2020569. I would first like to confirm this is the correct action to take, and also find out how difficult it is to replace it.

Hi.

You need to check the wiring from the thermostat to the ignitor to make sure it's not grounded.
If the wires are OK - replace the oven thermostat

Hi Simon,

Now that I have the oven opened up I found the there's a screw missing on the Oven Thermosat Assembly.

Maybe I'll get lucky and get this fixed by putting this part back together.

I was going to attach a photo, but I don't know if it's possible.

Hi, Mike.

Probably what happened is that because of the missing screw the thermostat was out of alignment and was not turned off completely.
