Model Number: JTP48B0F1BB Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
No error codes. Received an F0 only when I had the control panel removed to investigate.
The Start and Off buttons on our double oven (both upper and lower ovens) do not respond. It is intermittent for the most part. 99% of time when oven is hot. To turn off oven, we go to the timer and tell it to turn off in a minute (but that requires the start button to work!). Used to be upper oven only, off button only, now both ovens and all 4 buttons affected. And happens more and more often. And when it happens...pounding and poking with fingers or other objects does nothing no matter how angry we get I suspect problem is either: 1) The button panel (connected to control unit via a ribbon) ($$$) 2) The "computer"/electronic range control ($$$$$$) 3) A contactor problem ($) I figured it is because they are the most frequently used buttons, they are worn out. This leads to thinking a new button panel would work. Except that when oven is off/cold I can play music with the START/OFF buttons beeping with the slightest touch. The heat expansion could definitely be making the problem appear though... I am not focusing on the computer since no errors codes are present. I thought it could be the culprit if the buttons had compromised it but the ribbon connection dismisses that theory. I read that contactors become fused or fail to function with age (oxidation?). Problem is I cannot find any contactors in my oven parts list. I see four (4) limit switches all with different part numbers. Was thinking of investigating these to see if anything looks strange... I do not want to spend $100+ on the button panel if the problem lies deeper. Any advice/experience with the issue is much appreciated. Ads By Google Related Models |

Most likely the problem is a bad keypad which is a part of the control panel. You have nothing to loose because if you'll order it from APP and it would not fix the problem, then you can return it.
