Hello all

I pulled a fan out of an old Jenn Air electric cooktop in hopes of using it to move hot air from my basement (near woodstove) into my garage. The problem is that this fan has an odd plug end. The normal left vertical plug post is round instead of a vertical bar. I want to rewire a new 110 V. plug onto the fan so that I can plug it into a normal outlet.
Any ideas?

Hard to say without a model number to check the fan.

Fans usually have a tag on them that will tell you if it is 120 volts 60 hertz.

If it is a US unit then it is probably 120 volts.
By the sound of it it is a 2 wire so you should be able to use a new plug.

For safety I would use a 3 wire cord and attach the fan/housing to the ground wire of the cord. You do not want your wood stove to go live if there is a problem in the fan motor.
The other option is to isolate the fan from the wood stove a 3 wire cord will probably be a lot easier.
