Model Number: rbd305pvt02 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
I used the self clean on this oven for the first time today and after about 30 minutes, it set off every smoke alarm in my house. Funny thing is that I really didn't see smoke, but the oven and surrounding cabinet was very hot..rather concerning. Anyway, I went to cancel the clean and the display was blank. So I figured the oven tripped a breaker, but that was not the case. Now the oven is stuck in a locked mode with no power. It will be impossible to remove it since the door has to be opened to unscrew the frame. Can somebody tell me what happened and how I can get the door opened?
Hope this is not a dupe, I submitted before and never saw an acknowledgement. Ads By Google Related Models |

Only the top oven is self-clean and has a lock. I was able to get it unlocked by sliding cardboard between the door and oven. It is in a permanent latched position (ie: if I close the door, it latches again). I presume this will be the case until I repair thermal fuses that were apparently blown? I am assuming it is fuses because the oven has power going to it, but acts like it has none - ie the control panel is dark and noop.

It works! This site is great - I used advice from one of your previous posts to figure out how to fix ours. The only problem we had was how to get the control panel off. According to documentation, we should have been able to take a couple screws out and pull the panel out and down. In our case, we had to actually pull the unit out of the cabinet to reach 2 additional screws on the side. You probably saved us ~$300-$400!

You are welcome. I'm glad to hear it's up and running. Good job!
