Model Number: KGSC308LSS0 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
Rarely stumped...but this one's got me so far... or eggnog has affected my thought process's..
Superba Kitchenaid KGSC308LSS0.... 7 years old or so.. Replaced inner two pieces of oven door glass...the first (closest to heat) inner just popped the other day.. Got OEM replacement glass. Disassembled carefully, new glass in, everybody cleaned and re-assembled. There is a 'shield' with a third piece of glass that goes over the fiber insulation and presses onto the 2nd piece of glass laying in the metal frame ( no hold down clips or anything) that holds both First and the Second glass. that frame is screwed into the door with 7 brackets. So First glass is tight against the rope seal at door. When I assemble the thing together, the 'shield' can move/flop at the top part, but the bottom is held firm against by a lip to the door frame. It allows the second glass to move a lot.... No extra parts anywhere, but somehow the top part of the shield has no way to sit tight against the 'two-glass'' frame and everyone be tight and happy... any thoughts? I have a 'fix' of sorts.. a threaded screw that can go thru a center hole at the top, pressing against the metal part of the shield and then against the glass, but wanted to see if I'm just off somehow or ?. Very little on the web about this, but a few with similar experience when replacing that glass.. thanks in advance David R Ads By Google Related Models |

Ok then....
So the fix for this is.. for me.. a simple small bolt thru the middle hole as per picture, with two nuts and a wide washer attached under the mount to press the shield down. Re-installed the outer plate assembly, no more rattle, oven door back on and tested up to Broil at 500 for 30 minutes... No explosions or escaping heat.. so far.. |
