Model Number: KESC307HWW6 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
Greetings,
I have a KitchenAid drop in range/oven that will not maintain a constant temperature. For example, if I set it to bake at 350, the chime will sound in a few minutes to indicate it is up to temp, the display will read 350, but in reality it is only 200 or so, according to an oven thermometer. I can then increase the temp to 450 and it will climb to more than 475. If I then lower it back to 350 it will drop back down to below 300. I replaced the hidden bake element 2 years ago because it was bad, and it has worked fine until recently. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks, Norman Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi.
You should check the oven sensor and it's connector plug. At room temperature the resistance should be about 1100ohm. Replace if needed Part number: 9782081 If the sensor is OK - replace the control board Part number: 9754383 Here are the breakdown diagrams and Control Panel parts for Whirlpool KESC307HWW6 - AppliancePartsPros.com Post the results. Simon.

Yes, at room temperature. Removed panel on rear of the range, isolated the sensor by unplugging it, set the meter at 2K ohms and plugged the test leads into the back side of the sensor plug. I did not remove the sensor from the range. Checked it several times and consistently got 1791 on the meter.

New sensor arrived in only 2 days, but didn't seem to help.
Replaced the sensor, set to 350. In 20 minutes the oven only got to 325. Set it up to 450, 4 minutes later it had only reached 350, then 12 minutes after that, it finally got to 450. I tried setting it back down to 350 and in 15 minutes it was at 385, 15 minutes after that it was at 330. These temps are all checked by an oven thermometer, which I have no way of verifying, so it's hardly scientific. I was really hoping the new sensor was the answer, but the original problem seems to remain. Any more ideas? Thanks for your help. Norman |
