Model Number: fgf337bcb Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
I could use a little help. My oven lights after a very long time - sometimes 30 minutes. From what I understand, My ignitghter is working, because I can see it glowing(fairly brightly), but I never tested it with a volt meter. All the burners on top work with out any problems. When the oven is not lighting, I do not hear or smell any gas. I am assuming that my problem is a faulty safety valve not letting the gas thru. Although, every once in a while the oven works fine without any problems. I don't think it's a thermostat or a contronl panel problem,( because once light the oven works ok) but I could be wrong. Does this problem sound like a faulty safety valve?, and is a faulty safety valve a common problem? Thank you.

Safety valves do go bad sometimes but not often, for example in the last five years i have change maybe two safety valves, this condition you have sound like a ignitor going bad, taking a long time to light is common when ignitor's are weak.
