Thermador gas cooktop simmer burners

Model Number: SGSX365ZS/01 Brand: Thermador Age: 5 - 10 years

My cooktop has 2 simmer control burners. When turning on the burner the ignitor is supposed to light the burner. To use the simmer control function the control has to be turned past the low position till a "click" is heard. This activates the simmer control which turns the burner on and off to maintain the desired heat. Neither of my burners will ignite until the control is turned all the way to the simmer activation position. Can you help me identify/troubleshoot the problem?
