Exclamation oven not keeping temp over 400
Model Number: jgbp33   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Oven will heat almost to desire temp then shut down and then ignitor will come on and it will lite only momentarily and then shut down, and keeps repeating this cycle. Seems to do it at temps over 400. Have checked thermostat and it is at proper ohlms. When you push bake and broil buttons together you get a code of 5F. Any suggestions on what to do next???

Hi Nana,

Very likely the problem is a bad igniter. In order to verify it you have to measure the current drawn by the igniter at the first time it lights up and the next time when the oven is really hot.

If the reading is 2.5 amps or less, replace the igniter.

If you need the correct part number, post the end of the model number.

Gene.

Checked the ignitor and amps were between 5.5 and 3.2. could the problem be the gas valve.
