Hi
My whirlpool double oven model GBD307PDS7 last night was preheating last night and then it didn't stop. The oven beeped and I got a code of F3 E2 which apparantly indicates that the oven temperature sensor is bad. We turned it off and now the display is blank and the upper over locked and we can't get in. Can someone provide assistance on what to do?
I turned the breaker off so there is no power.

Please help.

Hello,

Open the control panel (the instructions are attached) and check the control panel thermal fuse (wired into the hot line to the control board - black wire) for continuity. At the same time you can open the oven door.

Also check for continuity the oven shutdown thermostat (#37 at the diagram). It is located on the back of the oven but you can check it from the front by measuring the resistance between the P18-4 (red) or P18-1 (red) terminals at the control board and the red wire at the terminal block. If it's open, then the oven has to be removed from the cabinet to access the part.

You also have to check the upper oven temperature sensor. This test also can be done from the front by measuring resistance between the wire connected to the terminal P23-4 at the control board and the ground. The normal reading suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature.

If the reading is incorrect, replace the oven temperature sensor.

If the reading is correct, the control board has to be replaced. Unfortunately this part has to be discontinued and is no longer available. Because of such situation I would recommend to start the troubleshooting from testing the oven temperature sensor. If this test will lead to the control board replacement, all other tests are unreasonable.

- The oven temperature sensor Part number: W10131825
Part number: W10131825

- The control panel thermal fuse Part number: 4451042
Part number: 4451042

- The upper oven shutdown thermostat Part number: 9759243
Part number: 9759243

- The oven control board Part number: 8302967
