Model Number: VWH 3010SS Brand: -other- Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a viking range hood that needs to be connected to a plug I bought. There is a white wire and a black wire sticking out of the hole in the back. There is a green wire that looks like it is screwed into the hood itself. The plug I bought has 3 wires - a black, a white, and a green. My question is what do I do About the green plug? Do i need to cut it from the hood and wire it? Or can I just hook up the white and black wires? Thanks.

I am not sure what you are trying to do here.
Most times a range hood is connected directly to the house wiring but it sounds like you want to plug this into a standard wall receptacle. If this is the case then you should add a line cord. The 3 wires then get connected to the line cord with wirenuts and then the line cord is plugged into the wall receptacle. The line cord should have some type of strain relief on it. This ensures that the wirenuts cannot pull loose and that it does not rub on the sharp sheet metal as it exits the hood. If it rubs on the sharp edges then over time it could cause a short. You need to connect the green to ground!!! Black is live White is Neutral Green is earth ground. Perhaps go to the Viking website and under Ventilation look up a hood that is the same or similar to yours. You should then be able to download an install sheet.
