Model Number: Whirlpool RS610PXGW10 Brand: -brand- Age: More than 10 years
In the process of replacing control panel on above model stove. All done except for ribbon cable insertion.
While removing old panel the ribbon cable came loose from the male plug. Does the cable just 'snap' back into the male plug? The cable does not appear to be damaged. Is there a trick to getting this right? REALLY need to get this thing working. Just recently was able to purchase the new panel. Thanks! EDIT: Grrrr! took a closer look and saw the notches in the ribbon. So inserted ribbon into the male plug and started to insert it and a latch broke off (was not forcing it!). Then, tried gingerly using the old plug and same damn thing happened! What now? Ken Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by kenh99 : 11-03-2012 at 10:31 AM. |

I am not sure what the above means (what old plug?) Note I am not 100 5 sure on the following. Usually this type of receptacle has a small lever/tab at each end. You push the lever down towards the board and it moves the little clip in the receptacle out of the way. You then insert the ribbon cable and raise the levers to lock the ribbon cable in. If both sides are broken, check that no pieces dropped into the receptacle, check that both tabs are out of the way. You may have to move the tabs out of the way a paperclip should do the job. Be careful that you do not damage any of the connectors in the receptacle. Insert the ribbon cable all the way and then put a small dab of silicone sealant on each end to hold it in.
