Model Number: JGP975SEK2SS Brand: GE Age: Less than 1 year
I just installed a new cooktop five burner GE Profile (JGP975SEK2SS) with a Power Burner. The local Propane company came out and connected a new line with two regulators in line before it enters the cabinet that the stove is mounted in.
The problem is that the simmer burner will ignite on the front right burner, but the power burner will not start. I converted the regulator and the spuds over for each burner. I double checked that I installed the simmer spud on the top and the power burner in the lower center location. The instructions for the pressure regulator states to make sure that the letters "LP" are facing the regulator but the picture they show has the longer part of the plastic retaining protruding into the cap . But when I place it with the "LP" facing the regulator it has the longer part facing the regulator. I'm not sure if the text is incorrect or the drawing is. If i lift up on the cap while it is on and the simmer burner is burning , it will attempt to start by a small 'puff" burp. 1. What will happen if I flip the plastic piece around and test it to see if it works? Will it cause a major problem ? 2. Could the LP gas flow be too low to start the power burner? If so what should I tell the gas company that the reading should be? 3. What else could cause this issue? Thanks Rick Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi Rick,
As long as "LP" on the retainer is showing on the bottom, in opposite side of the cap, it's fine. What are the marks on the orifice spuds you used for the simmer orifice and the main orifice? Use a needle to clean the center holes in the orifices. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for GE JGP975SEK2SS Cooktop - AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.

Gene,
You might be on to something It look like the main is in the wrong bag. I will contact them to see if they will replace it. I will report back what I find out. Thanks Rick |

Rick, thank you for your posts. I just got one too and am going through the same struggles. GE is not helpful, they send you a .pdf of the page in the installation instructions. They don't appear to know the P/N's of the LP orifices nor their placement. Thankful for this site. Waiting for my orifices now.
