My problem is the display (which seems to be common with Thermador). The display will not stay illuminated—it is either off or on, but mostly off. It will come on for several hours when I turn the power on, but disappear soon thereafter. Occasionally it will illuminate (for a second or several hours) when the oven latch is moved back and forth or when the oven door is opened/closed. It does not go dim, it goes off. The bake, broil, timer, clock, etc. still work, but you just can’t see the display. I sent the circuit board to CoreCentric for repair and re-installed it last weekend with the same results—display worked for a few hours and then, poof! I started to replace the capacitors myself (as that is what seems to be suggested as the fix for the display), but I really need some guidance—maybe there’s something else causing the display to go off—and am asking for your input/thoughts/solutions. I am NOT associated with corecentric other than I used them to replace my Maytag double oven controller with much success.

If you are burning capacitors up...

Line voltage issues or transformer issues are the most likely causes.

I have no issues with CC. I assume they replaced the capacitors on the board-at least that's the way it looks. Based on what I had read in other threads about this display, I purchased replacement capacitors, but after removing the board I found they were not of the same capacity as those listed in the threads. Therefore, in the interest in time, I sent it to CC for repair.

Late last week (Thursday), I turned breaker to the stove/oven "on"; the display stayed off until Friday evening and worked until mid-day Saturday, and then went off again. It was still not working when I left Sunday afternoon. I'm beginning to think there is something else, rather than the capacitors, keeping the display from illuminating properly. It seems that power to the display is intermittent--the transformer? The controls (oven, burners, clock, timer, etc.) still work which makes me think it is not the transformer. But something keeps the display off and occasionally on.

Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to respond.
