Oven Repair (including Ranges and Cooktops)

Electric cooktop stopped working. Went to electric service panel and breaker kicked. Tried to reestablish power and breaker kicked again. With power off, disconnected power and reset breaker. breaker remained on so no bad breaker. Does anyone know where to begin on repairs? Cook top over 10 years old.

There is definitely an electrical short somewhere. You have to remove the cooktop from the counter, disassemble it and check for continuity the wires, the switches and the heating elements to the ground. You also may see a burned parts. Post the results.
