Model Number: KERC506HWH0 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
I have been trying to fix my oven as it will not heat - the range, lights and convection fan work fine.
I used my multi meter to check the elements and thermostat and everything appears fine. I thought there might be funny with the control board since there were no obvious problems anywhere else, so I replaced it. Didn't fix it. I then replaced the thermostat as many others have suggested that part replacement and I thought the ohm reading was odd. Didn't fix it. I do have a problem with the lock trying to lock but not working properly. I don't know if that is the reason for the problem but it too has normal readings. Anyone have an idea if there is a thermo fuse that I can't seem to locate? Related Models |

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KERC506HWH0 | AppliancePartsPros.com Here is the wiring diagram http://www.servicematters.com/docs/w...%209753984.pdf Wiring diagram does show a 20 amp fuse (lower right hand corner of wiring diagram) For the life of me I could not find it in the parts breakdowns. Hopefully someone else will jump in with hands on experience on this model

Here is a post I found, it is for a KERC500 but does show the fuse.

So not exactly the same as the Selectra but you sure got me looking around for any fuse hiding place.
The elusive fuse is a part of a red wire and covered in a black plastic wrap. The wire runs from the terminal to the control board. I cut out the fuse and attached the wire to the terminal and voila - heat and stink from an oven that hasn't worked in a month. Looks like the new wire is going to cost almost $100 bucks! Do you think I could get a fuse holder and new fuse and jimmy-rig it? Just for fun, I started the clean cycle and after 1/2 an hour it errored out. Again new board, and new thermostat, so does that mean I won't be able to use the clean cycle even with a new fuse? |

Glad you found it!!!
Do you think I could get a fuse holder and new fuse and jimmy-rig it? Can not see any reason why not as long as you use a good quality fuse holder, mount it properly and make sure it has good connection to the wires. Fuse is probably a 20 amp slow blow. Just for fun, I started the clean cycle and after 1/2 an hour it errored out. Again new board, and new thermostat, so does that mean I won't be able to use the clean cycle even with a new fuse? Could be, what was the error?

Since you have already replaced both the control board and the thermal sensor, the only thing I can think of is the wiring between the sensor and the board. I would check to see that the connectors are clean and properly crimped.
You may want to pick up a oven thermometer and check what the actual oven temp is during bake as to compared to what the unit is telling you. Do not expect it to be right on the money. If the thermometer is a lot lower then the unit is reading the sensor incorrectly. Most units allow you to calibrate the temperature plus/minus 35 degrees, perhaps this will solve the problem.
