My Kenmore Elite oven is not baking properly. It would not heat to set temp. I adjusted the temp using instructions in the owners manuel. My results were...It took about 40 minutes to heat to 375. The cookies I baked were over brown on the outside, more or less depending on the location on the cookie sheet. I had a technician check the oven. His answer was the control pad was bad and needed replaced. I am not comfortable with this answer, considering the age of the oven, so I am exploring second opinions. Thanks

I also went to the Sears parts site. They have actual part's breakdowns and a wiring diagram. Unfortunately they like to keep the breakdowns is house. Also the wiring diagram is not very legible so I am doing some guessing here.

The unit has a thermal breaker (switch) mounted to the back outside of the oven. It could be that this kills power to on of the elements. It is re-settable, the little nub between the contacts pops out, see below.
