Model Number: GS475LEMS Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
I bought this Whirlpool "Gold" oven off craigslist and installed it myself. I had to tee off an existing gas line to the water heater. Once we installed it and turned the gas on to the oven we smelled gas. I checked with soapy water from the shutoff to the oven about 20 times and found nothing, so I called a gas guy. He checked the whole system for leaks and determined it to be an internal leak in the oven/stove. He said he checked one safety valve down low ( he had to take out the broiler drawer to do it) and said it was not leaking there, but that there is another safety valve he didn't check that might be leaking. The smell is mostly around the bottom of the stove. I'm a carpenter by trade with some experience fixing mechanical things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
