Model Number: TGF355BHWB Brand: Tappan Age: 5 - 10 years
We have replaced the gas safety valve and the oven still does not heat up like it should. I had gotten no response to my original post so I am reposting. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would really like to have a working oven back but I really don't want to have to buy a new stove.
Thanks! Christi ORIGINAL POST My oven won't heat to temperature correctly. I think I know what we need but want another opinion before I order the part. We had a friend look at it that used to do appliance repair and he said that we need the gas safety valve. It heats up but you have to set it to about 425 to get it to 350. Right now I have it a 470 for it to get to 425. Then it doesn't always stay at that temperature so you have to watch it. He came and looked at it, took the bottom of the oven out and shook that valve around and then put it back together. This was a year ago and it worked since then until a few weeks ago and now it is doing it again. Do you think that is it and that safety valve is just full of crud or something? I want to order the part and get it fixed because baking is really a pain right now with it the way it is. Thanks for any advise Christi fillhardfarm@sbcglobal.net |

Hi Christi,
The first thing I would check is the resistance across the oven temperature probe (aka oven temperature sensor) wires at the control board. It suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature. If the readings is different - replace the oven temperature probe. If there is nothing wrong then replace the control board (aka clock). Also if it takes more than a minute to light up the burner (on cold oven) - very possible the oven igniter has to be replaced too. - The part number for the oven temperature probe is AP2126179 - The part number for the control board is AP2125563 - The part number for the oven igniter is AP2150412 Gene.
