Any help is appreciated. Kenmore electric range 790.9661. Clock timer is sears part number 316418702.
Display went blank and oven won't operate (probably because the clock timer is dead). Range top still works but indicator lights do not operate properly. I went through the whole troubleshooting matrix that comes with range and replaced the clock timer for over $200. I also replaced the simmer select board and cooktop lockout board because the range is getting old and they were cheap.
Now the problem is the same. I even walked by in the dark last night and found the burner indicator lights glowing faintly. There is a 15 pin connector on the clock timer. Pin 5 is neutral, pin 8 is line 1 (black). With the oven unplugged I have 75 ohms between these two pins. This would explain a lot, including the glowing lights if there is continuity where there shouldn't be. But I don't know what those pins are. If they connect to the transformer then there should be no continuity. I also thought that they might connect to a relay that opens when power is applied but I don't know. The only other thing that I found is about 25 ohms resistance between the two leads to the warmer drawer indicator light while all other lights are open when no power is to the stove. Those leads flow through a lo limit thermistor in the warming drawer so I don't think that's the problem.
I don't want to replace a $200 timer again but there are no schematics for the timer. Any help would be appreciated.
