My broiler element was sparking and emmitting a odor a couple off weeks ago. Now it has gone out along with the top burners and lights on control panel. In other words , nothing works.

Is it worth saving?

Can I do it myself

Kenmore Model 790.9611
Thanks

Hi.

Most likely there is the short in the broil element which caused the breaker to open. Reset the circuit breaker and check the surface elements and clock.
If it's OK - turn the power off, pull out the broil element and check with a multimeter if there is 240VAC to the element when the clock is set for broil.
If there is 240VAC - replace the element Part number: 316200600
Part number: 316200600

Thank you.

Simon.

Have you reset the breakers? Is there a 240VAC to the range?

Simon.
