Model Number: CPLEF398ACA Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
Hello to all,
I had visitors coming over for supper and wanted to heat up my French Onion Soup. I put the pot on the stove top on the left front side of my stove top. The right had side turned on and never turned off. The only way to turn it off is to unplug the stove from the wall or turn off the breaker. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Id love to be able to fix this myself. Any help would be great. Kirk Henry Montréal, Québec, Canada Related Models Last edited by kirkz24 : 10-29-2008 at 10:43 AM. |

From what I have been reading on the net, it could be my infinite switch
that needs to be changed. Can someone shed some more light on this sitiuation? Its kind of hard to not have a stove anymore!! Hehe ANY information would be greatly appreciated. |

Is this a Infinite Switch? If so, would the be my problem?
![]() Is this Universal? So I can install this on any of the 4 elements? Perhaps If I can, maybe I can test the switch elsewhere to see if the problem goes elsewhere....... Any Help would be great. |

The white block with 4 wires is the temperature limit switch, which would not cause the element to stay on.
The infinite switch pictured is for the warmer, and is different than the others. This is the infinite switch you may need. Thanks for the reply. I did change the two 54A infinite switch and the same element stayed on when I plugged it back into the wall. THUS leading me to believe that my problem is not the switch. What would cause this element to always stay on (Small middle element) Also, do you think that just perhaps the test I did by changing the two 54A is not a perfect test? Are they both IDENTICAL partnumbers? Thank you. |

the (2) 54A are the same.
then it could be the # 97A's. you could try switching those, they may be different, the new ones are interchangable. I edited my previous post, it's not the CLOCK/TIMER, it's the POWER BOARD
edited: updated: looks like you need the Power Board: Part Details - FRIGIDAIRE Board, power, part number: 316239400 $126 or you could disconnect that part of the element (and tape the wire) and still use the rest of the stove connection P7 (RF INNER) on the power board Last edited by RegUS_PatOff : 01-31-2008 at 02:23 AM. |
