My builder is replacing my glass range top because a corner cracked off when a painter was painting above my cabinets. He does not have the foam or tape that is currently underneath it. On GEs site the foam/tape is 55 dollars plus shipping and tax. My question is is there something special about the foam and tape or is it something I can pick up at the local Home Depot? Does anyone happen to know the answer to this?

It is likely a silicone foam that is temperature resistant. I was looking for a small piece for another part of my oven and wasn't able to find any. I ended up repairing the old gasket with some silicone gasket glue

Interesting idea. I will look into that. Since my corner cracked off I can actually see the tape and foam but a silicone might serve the same purpose.
