I have a JennAir stove with a faulty touch pad. The 3,6,9 buttons no longer work. I found a part on line known as the panel overlay. Is the problem likely to be corrected if I replace the panel overlay?....or do I need to replace the "clock" that contains all the circuit connections? I already tried removing/putting back the ribbon cable from the "ribbon connector" with no results.

Most likely the problem is a bad clock overlay (aka a control panel or a touch pad), but there is a small chance for the clock to be bad as well.

This is a common problem. Mine has "burned up" twice in less than a year, and the oven less than 2 years old. If you look at the ribbon cable, I bet you will see a burn mark and part of the metal worn away. Whirlpool/Jenn-air recommend insulating the ribbon cable. But of course you need a new touch pad first....if you can find one that is not back ordered for a month or two. At least the parts come with a five year warrenty, and I was lucky in that Jenn-air is covering the service call even though it is past the one year service warranty - they obvious know that this is a design defect!

I did order the part and put it in myself. Hopefully, it will last longer than yours did. My ribbon cable did not appear damaged. I may try insulating it before it melts again. I'm glad I made it through Thanksgiving!

The control panel has to be replaced. If you need the correct part number, post the end of the model number, the serial number and the color of the control panel.

Yup...A new control panel includes a new ribbon.
