Problem with left front burner stopped working. Replaced control switch went to turn on breaker will not reset. Removed wires to control switch reset breaker other 3 burners work fine. Should burner element be replaced?

They should be marked L1, L2, H1, H2 and P. List for me which color wires you have hooked to each of these terminals. Thanks

L1= two heavy blk wires (L1 on wire). L2= three wires purple,red & org (L2 on wire). H1= blk (H1 on wire). H2= blk. P= org (P on wire).

Just wanted to make sure you had the switch hooked up correctly. I wouldn't suspect the burner unless you actually had it turned on at the time you tried to set the breaker. You most likely just got a hold a bad switch.

What about the limit switch called out on the parts diagram on this site?

But a limit switch is usually 2 switches in 1. One is simply in series with the burner. If you have the burner switch off there's no power going to it, so that wouldn't trip the breaker unless you had the burner switch on when you tried to turn on the breaker. The second, is for the hot surface lamp and is in series directly to the line. It still has voltage going to it even if you pull the wires off of the burner switch, because I don't believe they have those separated at the switch terminals.
