bake element won't come on
Model Number: 911.95576891 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
when i turn the oven on the temperature setting appears on the display and the red light comes on but the bake element usually does not heat up.sometimes the element will work.although the last three or four times i tried it would not work.the broiler element does work.i was going to replace the bake element but the guy at the appliance parts store said that if the bake element comes on sometimes then that is not the problem.can you give me any advice.Thank You

I would have to agree with the appliance parts store guy.
Most likely the contacts on the bake element's control relay are failing. An element is basically just a piece of resistance wire coated so the air does not gets at it. If it goes open and the current jumps that open it normally blows the element up. You could check that the wires from the control/clock to the element are OK. If they are then I would replace the control. Part number: AP3417651 Click on the picture for more info about the part.
