We have a 30 year old Chambers Gas cooktop--purchased in 1983. Three of the Four valves are not working properly--one is totally frozen. We really love this cooktop and do not want to buy and new one--and we would be forced to tear up the tile to install a new one.

We still have the original brochure which identifies the valve assembly as Part #70758. I think Whirlpool bought Chambers in the 1980's. Any possibility that parts are available somewhere? Maybe someone in the Los Angeles area can repair or rebuild the existing valves? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi -- I have almost the exact same cooktop, and am also looking for replacement valves. Let's combine forces. If you locate some or find out more info, please email me: averystclair@earthlink.net. Meanwhile I found a place thru the Chambers stove fansite that will rebuild those valves if you can't find replacements. Rebuild is cheaper too. I hope to hear from you.
