Default oven won't light
Brand: Caloric   Age: 5 - 10 years

I Have A Coloric Stove & Oven, When I Turn The Oven Control Knob To The Bake Position & The Temp Up To Lets Say 350 Degrees The Oven No Longer Heats Up, I Removed The Drip Pan Covering The Ignighter At The Bottom Of The Oven, The Ignighter Which Is Electric, It Is Glowing Orange, But No Gas Is Flowing Thru The Gas Tube Near The Ignighter, And There Is No Flame. The Propane Tank Is Ok Because All 4 Top Burners Work Fine.

Where Should I Start Looking For The Problem??????

Thanks
Fishyfingers

you should start by measuring amperage of the ignitor ... ( usually, if you leave the oven on for 5-15 minutes, it may actually come on ) most often that is the indication that the ignitor is not drawing enough amperage to actually open the valve. HOWEVER, we dont suggest that with LP ... I'd begin with the ignitor ...

thanks kawfeeman!!
what should the amperage measure? and what wires do you test, both wires at the ignitor or 1 wire and ground, the ignitor is glowing bright orange and i left it on for 25 min and still did'nt light.

thanks again

just measure one wire going to the ignitor with an AMPROBE, not a volt meter .. you'll need a clamp on device to measure inductively the current draw... ( remember "bright orange" is relative... may not be as bright as a newer ignitor )

i will measure the amperage when i get home, what amperage should i be looking for at the ignitor feed wire . i have an amprobe and i will test that tonight. i have an electrical background from the marine field 26 years, it helps a bit. if you can give me an amperage # to look for when testing and it tests good, where would i look next. i will write down the mod# to help in the future, but i do not have the mod # with me today.

thanks in advance!!!!!!

Hello Kawfeeman

Hope You Can Help!!

I Did Test The Amperage At The Ignitor Wire And Found 3.42 Amps While The Ignitor Was Glowing, Tested Both Wires, 1 At A Time And The Reading Is The Same.

Thanks In Advance!!

Fishyfingers.

that seems about right, but a model number would be more helpful
