Model Number: GS395LEHS-5 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Recently my gas oven has been having a difficult time starting. At times I can hear the spark ignitor clicking then it sounds like the oven is igniting but then shortly after that it shuts off. After waiting a few moments I restart. Some occasions it will start up and go though its 10 min warm up. For the majority of the times it takes several trys to get oven to fire on. I now have a code that came onto the display it reads (E2 - F3) In the user manuals troubleshooting section its telling me to call for service. Being a HVAC mechanic I think I am capable of repairing this gas oven myself. Does anyone known what this code means and could this have anything to do with the difficult start up in the oven ? The top burners work fine and the stove works fine when it lights off. Any technical and repair advice would greatly be appreciated. I'm suspecting a weak or failed ignition system.

Hi Todd,
Looks like there are two separate problems. 1. Ignition: If it happens with Bake only then most likely the board does not sense the flame. The burner igniter at the same time is the flame sensor too. It's sold as the burner assembly and the correction is to replace it. 2. The "F3-E2" error code: this code means that the control senses overtemperature during Bake. Pull the range out of the wall. Remove the control panel rear panel. Measure the oven temperature sensor (#12 at the diagram) resistance at the control board. The normal reading at the room temperature should be about 1080 Ohms. If the reading is correct, replace the control board. If the reading is incorrect, remove the rear cover and check the wire harness and plugs. Measure the sensor resistance at the bottom sensor plug. If the reading is incorrect, replace the oven sensor. - The Bake burner assembly Part number: 8190618 - The oven sensor Part number: 8053344 - The control board Part number: 6610172 Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool GS395LEHS5 GAS RANGE | AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.
