Jennaire fan starts and stops by itself

The downdraft fan for our oven started up all by itself. Then it stopped and a few seconds later started again and runs for a long time. Nothing is on. I long ago disconnected the switches in the gas valves that turn on the fan whenever you use the grill or griddle. ANy suggestions?
