Hi Everyone!

I'm glad I found this forum. This weekend we heard a "pop" on our glass rangetop while cooking breakfast, and when we reset the fuse box (it had blown), we noticed that the red indicator light near the range controller for the warming zone will not turn off, even though we've turned the power off and tried multiple things (turning on the warming zone). Is there a part we need to replace, and, if so, is it easy?

Thanks for your time,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Sounds like the problem is a bad control board (aka clock/timer).

Hi Gene,

Thanks for the link. I've taken a look at the link, but am unsure if I correctly described the location of the light. The light that remains on is actually on the cooktop surface. It is orange, and would normally stay on so long as the range is hot. It is now remaining on despite the warming surface not being on. Would this be linked to the timer/clock?

Thanks for your patience.

Alan

Some corrections...

That pop followed by the tripped circuit breaker means there was an electrical short somewhere in the cooktop. Which part of the cooktop did you use when it happened? Did you use the warming zone at that time?

I was using two of the main burners and the warming zone when I heard the pop.

Are you able to use any of them now?

All burners and the warming zone still function normally. The only problem is that the little light to indicate that the warming zone surface is hot never goes off. That light is on perpetually.

Very likely the limiter for this heating element, which is a part of the heating element, is shorted, causing the indicator light to stay On. The correction is to replace the heating element.
