Model Number: C970-620431 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
I have been in contact with your parts dept. but the model no. listed above cannot be confirmed. Is it necessary that the original manufacturer's part must be installed or could I substitute for an element of another make with the same configuration - ie same voltage and physical dimensions? Also, is it necessary to remain a 3600 watt or could I go to the more common 25 or 2600 watt efficiently?
Thank you. Ads By Google Related Models |

Olga, It is possible to replace the original element with a "Universal" element as long as the dimensions are the same or very close. The wattage also needs to be the same, otherwise, the element will "burn out", prematurely, if it is a lower rated wattage, or will require longer to heat properly if it is rated at a higher wattage. As long as you understand that, you'll be fine.
You really do need to use the manufacturer reccomended part, for the unit to operate properly. Good Luck and Thanks
