Model Number: JTP18W Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I set the oven to "clean", after a while I heard a load "pop" Now the element will not heat up. After turning the oven on I checked the voltage at the element leads and only got 110 volts. Am I looking at a control board or is there a re-set button?

Hi.
First of all reset the circuit breaker to off and then to on. Check if that helps. If the problem still exists, check if there is 240VAC at the main disconnect plug on the top behind the control panel. Check the plug itself for any damage. If everything checks OK and there is no 240VAC to the elements - replace the control board. For the correct control board part number provide the complete model number. Thank you. Simon.

I replaced the control board, entered the temperature I wanted, and pressed start. I heard the relays clicking but did not get any heat from the elements. I tried the broiler, oven element and the convection heater but nothing got hot. I noticed a similar problem on another post and they had mentioned a reset on the oven temperature. Any other ideas?

Hi.
It's not clear from your reply did you check if there is 240VAC to the oven? Also, would appreciate the complete model number. Simon.

Hi.
Sorry for not being very helpful but none of the wiring diagrams showing exactly the hi - limit switch. You will have to trace the L2 Red wire to the elements. There is a "thermal switch opens at 275F, manual reset" according to one of the instructions. All I can tell it's in the L2 line. Thank you. Post the results. Simon.

Finally! I went back and re-checked voltage. While I had 240 to the board, I checked into the junction box. From there, each leg was not equal, they had a slight variance. Once rewiring was completed and voltage was in line, all worked well. Thanks for all your help.
