Default GE Built-In Oven Doesn't Always Preheat
Model Number: JTP10GP   Brand: GE   Age: More than 10 years

About a month ago our oven (GE JTP10GP) started shutting itself off after about 15 seconds of setting a bake temperature. It has continued since. We just re-set it again and it would then start the preheat as normal. In the past few days we have had to reset the ovens 3-4 times before it seems to take off. I took the oven apart today and it has a ERC-14500MW controller. From what I'm hearing or not hearing when the initial setting are input is the lack of the relays energizing (I think). Is the controller going out? Any other possiblities. Everything else works fine.

At start it up shows on the display that preheat has initialize and shows the current temperature at 100 deg F .... but if you watch it for a few seconds the bake display and preheat temp simply disappears from the LCD screen. Like I said ..... after resetting 3-4 times you can hear the relays trigger and it all works fine.

I have flipped the main breaker and let yhe oven set for 5 mins to see if re-initialinzing the board would help .... but it didn't.

Regards and thanks for any help you can lend.
