Hello. My oven will not light, the broiler will light and the ignitor on oven lights. Could you tell me what part I need to fix it. I cannot use my oven. I have a magic chef. :(

Thanks
Cassie

More than likely you have a weak ignitor. Even though it's glowing they get weak and don't draw enough amperage to open the gas safety valve.

Below is the part #.

Part number: AP4012072

I have already switched ignitor from browler to oven, the ignitor glows and dosnt seem to be the problem. Is there anything else it could be.

If you have a amprobe you should be reading right around 3.5 amps.

Also check the outlet the range is plugged in to. Should be close to 120v. If it's on the low side that can cause the amperage to be low.

The gas safety valve has a bi-metal in it that warps when the amp draw is correct, which in turn allows the gas to flow. Obviously when the gas hits the hot ignitor you've got flame.

Make sure the orfice on the valve is clean and clear. Also make sure where the ignitor mounts, it's in line with the port holes on the burner where the gas can come in contact with the ignitor.
