Model Number: KGCT365TBL Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: More than 10 years
I've just replaced the igniter module on my Kitchenaid 4-burner gas cooktop. The new module from APP is the Eaton 4454392 which replaced the old igniter, an RV 4173501. I installed the new igniter module carefully following the wiring connections exactly as specified in the installation instructions. With the new module installed, the two rear burners work perfectly. However, when either of the two front burners are turned on they ignite properly but the igniters continue to spark at all four burners. Is there some adjustment required or is the igniter module faulty?

This spark module has a feed back from each of burner igniters and when it senses the flame - it stops sparking.
Most likely you switched around the wires from the front burner igniters and the spark does not receive the right input. If you turn on both front burners at the same time - does it stop sparking? If it does, just switch the wires around. Gene.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve double checked the wiring and nothing is different from what is called out in the installation instructions. Further, whether I turn on one or both of the front burners the sparking continues.
Another thing I’ve recently noticed: If I turn on one of the back burners it ignites properly and the igniter sparking stops. However, if I then turn that burner to its lowest gas setting the sparking starts again. Is there some requirement to adjust the igniter spark gaps when a new module is installed? |

Check the electrical connection to the stove for possible reversed polarity and proper grounding.
Check all burner igniters for any damages (cracked or broken ceramic insulation). Check all burners for proper assembly. Check if the burner cap is in place on every burner. Clean all burner igniters, using a rubbing alcohol. Gene.

by the way, if the electrodes are in bad shape , have some corrosion, ( give high resistance ) they could be causing the module not to recognize that the gas has ignited and the flame is on..

I've got a four burner Thermador cooktop. All four ignitors continuously click whenever the unit is plugged in. Even if a burner is lit, it continues to fire. Right now, it is unplugged and I am using a match to light the burners. Does this call for an ignitor module replacement, or is there a fix?

Each burner control has a switch with two wires going to it. (One at a time) You can remove one wire from each switch to see if the sparking stops. If so then you have a shorted burner ignitor switch. Make sure the metal tip of the wire doesn’t touch you or ground. |

Bikash,
In addition to Glen, another possibility is a spilled liquid or a cleaning stuff could get inside a switch, causing a short. After a few days it drys and stops by itself. Gene.
