We thought our range heating element was defective, so, ordered a new element, part #AP3561425. Changed it out today and now, when the left front burner or bridge setting is turned on, it heats sometimes, then doesn't other times. All the other burners function normally.

The original left front and bridge burner stopped working, so, to trouble shoot, we swapped switches and control boards from right side to left, (both sides have the same part numbers), it did not affect operation of the burner at all.

Can anyone please help? We are at a loss regarding the cause of the problem?

Appreciate any ideas!

If there is nothing wrong with the wires, then most likely the problem is a bad power control board. In most cases it's located on the back of range.

Part number: AP4499660

Did a visual check of the wires for breaks or grounded spots, made sure the connections were tight. Cleaned the connections with electronic cleaner, but, not sure what to do other than that to check the wires/connections?

Maybe put the volt meter to each wire to confirm there are no breaks, (don't know what the test term is called? continuity?).

I couldn't even find the board on the parts list, so, am real appreciative for the link to the power control board!

So, would the element have needed to be replaced? Like two problems at the same time, element AND power control board? (I did check the burners for any breaks/shorts by using a volt meter on all the coils for any breaks).

Thanks Gene, this is a big help!

Everything is possible in our live, but it will be very unusual. And you already tried to replace the heating element to no avail.

Thanks again Gene!

Right now, it is working. Have to rotate the switch on, then off, then back on and it glows red in no time. I could live with that if it stayed that way. :)

Appreciate your comments very much!
