Oven Repair (including Ranges and Cooktops)

Hello. We recently rented a house. While we were there a glass bottle fell onto the glass range top. It caused a chip that spidered across to the middle of the range. The home owner said it will cost $609 for the part and installation. Does this seem incredibly high? I don't have the model number, but it was a Jenn-Air stove.

Just to add. The guy said it has an extended warranty, but wouldn't be covered due to the chip. Does that sound right?

Cannot say if the estimate is high.
With a model number you could look up what the top would cost.

Warranties do not cover damage caused by the user.
