Model Number: J BP79K0D1CC Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
any reason why the "clear/off" button on front of range wouldn't work?
Installed new electronic control part bought thru ApplianceParts. Everything is hooked up, everything seems to work great EXCEPT the clear/off button. What can I look for to fix this? Ads By Google Related Models |

looking for help with this range; installed Erc iii b control purchased from Appliance Parts. All works well EXCEPT the clear/off button, which doesn't function. I am assuming it's not the control part, but something related to the oven control pad. Don't know what to troubleshoot...

Your new model number also does not come up.
At least with the original number i could come close with JBP79KD1CC. See the below Replacement parts for General Electric JBP79KD1CC Electric range | AppliancePartsPros.com

I can send a pic right from the range.
It does say model number J BP79K0D1CC, so my last post doesn't include the 0 between K and D, but when talking to the help desk, they said that their info to replace the part is under the model number JBP79KD1CC. Quote:

I am going to assume that the cancel/off does not work in any mode.
If the button on the control panel feels the same as the other buttons then I would say that you received a defective control board as the actual switches for the buttons are on that board.

Doesn't work when pushing it. All other buttons respond and feels like a "click" when pushing it. The clear/off button feels like I am pushing the plastic but nothing else.
Couldn't be anything besides the control board? I'd hate to return a 2nd board to them... |

What do you mean by second board?
What was the problem with the first one? Also what was the original problem? It still sounds like a bad board to me unless all your problems/symptoms were the same. You could check that the button location on the front panel plastic lines up with the cancel switch on the control board.

First one worked for about 3 weeks, then started showing error messages related to the board failing.
New one has been in 2 weeks, no problems except the clear/all not working. Thought it might be something on the front touch-pad, though that wouldn't make sense if it worked with the first replacement board. Was just hoping that I wouldn't have to send back this board also. I'll check your button location recommendation. Quote:
