I need to insulate the outside wall near our wall oven-- probably a foot away-- but don't want a fire hazard. It's a built-in electric wall oven against an outside wall. Although I haven't pulled the oven from the wall yet I suspect that the cavity that contains the oven isn't insulated at all. Also, this cavity protrudes from the house about 3 feet or so and I'll bet the floor of that cavity isn't insulated either. So it's really exposed to the outdoor temperatures. For the last 20 years we've put up with the cold air that comes into our kitchen through the oven's vents. And, to make matters worse, the oven has never worked (for some reason) when the outside temperature is too cold (any ideas why?). I'm removing the oven this weekend to work on it-- so this is the perfect opportunity to do some insulating. Any thoughts or suggestions?
