Default outer glass door shattered
Model Number: jbp78wb1ww   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

We shattered the outer glass panel on the door of our oven. I see the part for sale and was looking for some good instructions on how to replace it. Or should I hire it out?

Remove the oven door.

Put it on a flat surface with the door handle facing down but not laying on anything.

Disassemble the door according to the door break down diagram.

- The part number for the outer door glass is AP2033875

- Here are the break down diagrams for the GE range Model JBP78WB1WW

Good luck.
Gene.

Thanks Gene. Received the new glass, removed a few screws that held the broken glass in place, put the new glass in the correct position, tightened the screws and had it completed within an hour. The hardest part was putting the door itself back on the appliance, because one of the hinges had flipped to the lock position.

This is pretty common situation with a door hinges. Usually I put something (a screwdriver handle) inside the open door hinge to prevent it from go to lock position and then I remove it after a door has been installed.

I'm glad you were able to fix it.

Gene.
