Model Number: RDDS30VQB Brand: Thermador Age: More than 10 years
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and have, I hope what might be a simple question. I am getting ready to purchase a home that has a Thermador RDDS30VQB Dual fuel range in the Kitchen. The range looks to be in very good condition but this is a foreclosure purchase so there is no power or gas running to the house and I am unable to check it out. I was wondering if anyone can tell me when Thermador started making this model and when they stopped. Are there any issues that I should be aware of. I tried to get an owners manual off of Thermador's web site but was unsuccessful, which tells me this could be an older model. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hello,
These units were made from around 1995 until about 2003. The first four numbers of the serial number will tell you when it was made. See the examples below. A serial number starting 9505 equals a build date of May (05) of 1995 (95). This works for units built before 2000, but after that it gets a little more complicated. Only units built in 2000 have serial numbers beginning 20xx, i.e. 2012 = December 2000. Any units built from 2001 on will start with an "8", e.g. 8104 and 8908. These examples represent April 2001 and August 2009, respectively. From what I can recall, these units never really had many issues, but the two left side burners have a system called "extra low", which uses a control board, potentiometers and solenoid valves to cycle the burners on/off when they're set to the lowest settings. This system is used on many Thermador cooktops, and I've replaced many potentiometers when the solenoids stopped opening. Regarding the manual, Thermador's customer support should be able to send one to you. Their email address is questions@bshg.com. KC |
