I'm replacing the broiler element in my GE oven, and noticed the cloth covering on the sensor unit has been worn or damaged in one area. I would think that the cables exposed under this covering only carry low voltage, but is it safe to operate the oven this way? I'm wondering if it's safe to cover it with some type of electrical tape, or if the sensor should be replaced also.

thank you-
