My gas range puts out a bad oder when the oven is heating. It smells like when it is self cleaning. I also noticed the same oder when the burner was lite and boiling water. This is not a gas smell, it is a strong oder, like when you self clean the oven.

I also am having the same problem. I've had the gas range for about 5 months now and the problem started (and still remains) when I broil. Early this morning, I got the SAME SMELL when I tried to make oatmeal on the front burner. I cook on that burner ALL the time but this morning I thought it was odd. I've smelled that odor only 2 times in my life. Once when my electric dryer piglet was heating up in the wall socket and almost caught fire, and the other came from one of those new CFL lightbulbs was going bad. It's a weird smell - somewhat like burning wires or as if you left the piece of plastic on the burner. I get that smell EVERY time I use my broiler. Hopefully the smell from the front burner will subside. It stunk up both floors of my house. I've got to contact the manufacturer when I get home. It's a Frigidaire with four burners (two quick burners - front right and back left) and one long burner in the center.
