We have a Whirlpool drop in range model RS6300XKN 1. It is quite old but serves us well.

A few years ago, I replaced the control switch for the front larget (8 inch) burner. Since then, that particular burner seems to be running HOTTER than others. So hot in fact that the chrome drip pan has been blackened over the few years and the gray enamel pan under all the burners is blackened and rusted under that burner.

Any suggestions: replace control switch again, replace burner elementm both, Other??

Thanks.
