I recently had to replace the baking element in our oven when the old one broke in half, I assume due to some food that had dripped onto it. It worked perfectly before the day the element broke. Since replacing it, the oven now burns wayyy hotter than it should. For example, I just baked some cookies that were supposed to bake at 350* for 15-18 minutes. Knowing the temperature is off, I instead baked them at 205* (you read that right.) for 15 minutes. They were absolutely scorched. One of the first times I used the oven after replacing the element, I tried to bake something at regular temperature and the oven gave us an error code, which I can't remember now but I googled it at the time and the code meant that the oven had overheated, something like over 600* unlocked or something.
Also, since replacing the baking element, when you try to use only the Broil function of the oven, the broiling element doesn't come on at all, but the baking element does.
I'm assuming that either the appliance store gave us a baking element for the wrong model number, or that they gave us a broiling element instead, even though we specified we needed a baking element. Any thoughts? Would either of those circumstances make our oven do this?

no suggestions? anyone? not even the people at the appliance store could tell me what the problem might be. all they said was to bring the element back in and they would double check that it was the right part.
oh, and sorry about wording that title so oddly, lol.
