when we try to pre-heat oven does not ignite and we smell gas. i replace the igniter for the broiler about a year and that still works fine. cook top burners also operating well. any guidance as to what is wrong with the oven? i thought that there were controlls that would not allow the gas to flow if the igniter was not hot enough.. ??

Very likely the problem is a bad Bake igniter. You can learn how oven igniter works from one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...1897-oven-wont-lite.html

- The igniter Part number: AP4041245
Part number: AP4041245

The new igniter comes without a mounting bracket. You have to use the old bracket. Be very careful not to brake and not to touch the igniter coil.
