Model Number: MER5530AAH Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
I'm a newbie to the forum and really could use some HELP. Here are the symptoms as best as I can determine.
When I press any of the following three keypads "Bake", "Broil", or "Cook Time", the "Lock" light flashes and the oven does not heat. No temperature is displayed (used to display 350 when "Bake" was pressed) and the led on the keypad does not illuminate. The unit does not display any error codes. All of the other functions appear to work. "Cancel" works, the timer works, the clock works, the "Stop Time" appears to function correctly, the Control Lock-Out function appears to work as described in the User's Guide, and the "Clean" function works. I ran a 2-hour self clean and it worked as it should. I have the User's Guide and I downloaded a Parts List from the Maytag web site, but I cannot find a repair manual. I have read many posts on this forum and others, and based on what I have read, I believe the control panel unit has a problem, or the lock is not sending the correct signal, or there might be a temp control issue. Since the self clean worked properly, I do not think the heating elements have failed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly handy, and would prefer to repair this myself if possible. The control is sensing that the door lock switch is still in the locked position. You'll need to raise the cooktop, and access the self clean door latch assembly and check for a bent lever or latch assembly Part number: AP4097943 and the door lock switch and wiring for damage Part number: AP4093346 You'll need to remove power to the range, remove the burner elements and pans, etc. open the oven door and remove the 1/4 in hex head screw(s) (one on each side) farthest out from the center, and lift the top staright up and prop it up with a suppot rod, You will now have access to the latch and switch assembly and wires. Thanks and Good Luck,
